Social media has created a new way to communicate with millions of people at the touch of a button. This has opened up a tremendous opportunity to share knowledge and bring attention to the latest trends. The US Government has taken full advantage of social media to promote its work in the science and technology field.
Here are 10 government Facebook pages for Science and Technology you should be following:
1) Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
Want to be on the bleeding edge of “DARPA-hard” science and technology research? The DARPA Facebook page is heaven for nerds. The page frequently posts stories about advanced robotics, cloaking technologies, and other once-crazy ideas. DARPA-funded research is bringing science fiction to life.
2) National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
Although NGA may be one of the least-recognized intelligence agencies, it runs one of the most interesting government Facebook pages. They have coined the hashtag #geointeresting to talk about maps and analysis of imagery, and frequently post some very cool articles about technology.
3) Central Intelligence Agency
The CIA’s Facebook page is another great resource for science and technology nerds, as they combine posts about the history of espionage with gadgets and gizmos designed for their spies over the years. As an added bonus, their Twitter account is occasionally hilarious:

6) Information Dominance Corps Self Synchronization
This is an account run by the Navy’s Information Dominance Corps, and it shares awesome articles covering a broad range of science, technology, and cyber security issues.
7) U.S. Army Research and Engineering Command
It is always interesting to see how technology moves from the battlefield to the general public. RDECOM’s Facebook page showcases both sides of the technology transfer: helping soldiers on the battlefield and the commercialization of that technology.
8) Air Force Office of Scientific Research
This account is a great combination of airplanes and many other areas of interest to the Air Force. The Air Force has spent a lot of time in recent years researching lasers, and that’s always a fun topic to read about. It also comes with some awesome pictures!
9) Office of Naval Research
The ocean is one of the few places on Earth that has not been fully explored by humans. The Office of Naval Research is hard at work to change that – and their research into autonomous ships and exploration technologies is extremely interesting to read about.
10) National Science Foundation
The National Science Foundation funds research across the full spectrum of science and technology in the United States. Their Facebook page showcases the latest and greatest in scientific advances.
